VISCOSTIL is a product for sterile ophthalmic use indicated for dogs, cats, horses not suitable for consumption and pet rabbits.
It consists of a 2% hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose solution to aid in the diagnostic process or as a lubricant during ophthalmologic procedures. Viscostil is perfectly transparent, soluble in water in all proportions, stable at pH between 2 and 13, does not form precipitates with metallic salts or organic residues.
The hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose content results in a viscosity of 4,000 cPs at a temperature of 20ºC.
Due to these characteristics and the high viscosity, Viscostil, once applied on the cornea, allows contact lenses for diagnostic use.
It can be used between the gonioscope and the cornea to measure the angle, also in electroretinography, in ultrasound. It can also be used in laser interventions.
It can also be used during surgical procedures as a lubricant during sedation or anesthesia.

Steps for safe and effective application
- Remove the safety ring by lifting the tab, remove the stopper from the bottle and hold it between the thumb and forefinger of the dominant hand.
- Keep the animal’s head still by holding the muzzle with the non-dominant hand.
- Place the dominant hand to the side, above the animal’s head, so that the outer edge of the little finger pulls slightly on the upper eyelid to facilitate exposure of the eye.
- Place the vial over the eye and instill 1-2 drops of the solution in the eye 2-3 times a day, applying light pressure on the body of the vial taking care not to touch the eye with the tip of the vial.
- Carefully close the cap of the bottle after each use.
- Reward the animal after application.
- To avoid the formation of bubbles, always keep upside down.
